Highland Plantation Property Owners:                            

The State of Maine requires all municipalities to maintain property sales pricing within a specified percentage of assessed value. Highland Plantation was below the required percentage range due to outdated property valuations. The Assessors conducted a complete revaluation of all Highland Plantation properties in June. The Tax Collector collects payments in accordance with the tax commitment issued by the Assessors and sends bills to inform property owners of the total taxes they owe and when those payments are due.

>Property tax bills are issued In July or August with a due date in October of each year.

>The fiscal year for the Plantation is January 1st to December 31st

>2025 Property Taxes were committed and issued on August 1 2025

>Interest accrues as of October 31, 2025 at the rate of 7.5%.

The Tax Collector also places liens on any property whose owner has not paid the property taxes. Liens are placed during the second quarter of the fiscal year.
