Highland Plantation has a three-member Board of Assessors. The Assessors are elected for a one-year term at the Annual Town Meeting in March.

The Highland Plantation Board of Assessors petitioned the Maine Land Use Planning Commission (LUPC) to reestablish jurisdiction for land use planning and zoning. The LUPC has jurisdiction over Highland's land use and zoning effective September 2, 2025. Visit the Land Use and Planning page for details and updates.

Meetings are held at the Old Schoolhouse (Town House), 2185 Long Falls Dam Rd, and open to the public, unless otherwise specified.
